I Love this Bar
Today I walked in the neighborhood the weather was great. I walked after dinner and there was a great breeze. I like walking when the wind is blowing but it's still warm enough to break a good sweat. I walk the path around the elementary school by my house. I walk around the school 7 or 8 times. This evening about my 5th time around I hear Toby Keith's "I Love this Bar" blaring from the loud speakers on the school building. I'm not sure what was going on I think maybe the janitor was playing the music. I just thought it was a strange song coming from the elementary school. I guess it could have been worse it could have been Lil Jon. I did see a lot of dogs but I can't take their pictures when I have Phoebe with me. So I will introduce you to Riley my daughters dog. Riley is about 7 yrs old he is a black lab and a great dog. He does get into trouble once in a while if you leave food out he will eat it. He follows Amy around all the time and when she goes to bed he does too! She leaves him with me when she goes on vacation but he really goes crazy when she returns. Did you know the Labrador Retriever, despite his name, did not come from Labrador, but from Newfoundland.

An early day
Got to the mall early this morning JC Pennys was still closed and the play area was packed. The rest of the mall is pretty empty. I walked for an hour and shopped for 20 minutes. I'm hoping the weather breaks soon so I can walk on the path through Westerville. Even with an empty mall I did see a couple of dogs. The first dog and owner I approached would not let me take their picture (first time thats happened if I didn't know better I would have thought Wu was in the mall) but the dog was another pit bull and I don't think the owner was too proud she was trying to read and some kids had just tried to pet her dog and she didn't like that. But I did meet Rocky a 7 week old bull dog he is the smallest and youngest dog I've seen at the mall so far. His owner said he would get to be 90lbs. Did you know the Bulldog is featured in the Disney film "Lady and the Tramp."

Busy Week-End
I've been busy all week-end with company from Cinti. My mother and sister were here. We were trying to get caught up with some scrapbooking so I didn't get to walk and I ate too much too. Monday I was too tired from little sleep so I had to catch up if you really can. But I got back on track today. Went to the mall there really coming along tearing down the Kaufmann building. It's still real quite in the mall. I didn't see any dogs again. But like usual I do have a backup. Meet Maggie my mother's dog. Maggie is a 3 yr old Yorkie She loves men and she does not like to be held. She loves other dogs too! She doesn't like to ride in the car but loves to go for a walk. Did you know the earliest record of a Yorkshire Terrier born in the United States dates to 1872.

Today was hot. I'm not sure how any one walks or runs outside when it gets this hot. I see them over by the dam all during the day.I know their not walking at the mall because it's empty.I didn't see any dogs today so I took a picture of Laura she works at Zpets a kiosk in the middle of the mall. She told me she sells a lot of doggy slippers and shoes. I feel really sorry for any of the dogs that have to wear them.Did you know Zpets has over 30,000 products to choose from.

Pedometers
My new pedometer finally came. It's a Omron HJ-112 . I got to use it today. I'm surprised how accurate it is. My old pedometer was not counting right. I don't have to clip this one on. I can keep it in my pocket or my purse. It keeps my info for 7 days too. There is a difference in calories burned and mileage too. I'm wearing both for a few days just to see the difference.Well you can tell the kids are back in school when you go to the mall. It's pretty empty now. Makes it so much easier to walk. Their coming along on the tearing down of Kauffmans. The parking lot is getting smaller and smaller every day as the construction site gets larger. Cleo and her owner Melos were at the mall today. Cleo is a 3 year old Yorkie who doesn't like to walk. Melos says Cleo thinks she's human. It looks like Melos has something to do with that! Did you know the Yorkie made its debut at a bench show in England in 1861 as a "broken-haired Scotch Terrier."

Here There & Everywhere
Well it's been a great week-end. I flew to Denver with my husband Bob and my youngest son Robby to visit my son Bryan. We packed in a lot in such a short time. Bryan set up a private tour of Coors Brewing Co where he works in Golden Colorado. We took a tour that lasted about 90 minutes and included walking almost 3 miles and climbing lots of stairs. They made us put on a orange vest, rubber shoe covers, hard hat, & goggles. We had to take off all of our jewelry and leave our purses and camera cases in a lock up room. But they did take us to places the regular tour does not go. After the tour they let you try 3 12oz beers. (BOB & ROBBY IN THEIR GEAR)
(ME ENJOYING A FEW ZIMA'S)
We went hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park which is less then 30 minutes from Bryan's new home. I really enjoyed walking through the woods the temp was 57 degrees while we were hiking and no humidity. There was some climbing but I was able to do it without having an asthma attack.
We had lunch at the original Chipotle, had dinner in Bolder, & went shopping in Grand Lakes. I got in a lot of walking but did so much eating it didn't matter. I didn't see any dogs on my hikes but did go by some horses. I don't know his name or how old he is but I thought he was so beautiful I would take his picture anyway.

Great Weather!
The weather has been great! So I've been walking outside. It's hard to walk in the mall when it's so beautiful outside but I do meet dogs and there owners outside too. Today I met Gunner a 9 week old chocolate lab. He is so cute and very playful. He already sits on command and stays. His owner Jeff works with him every day.I have a hard time taking pictures when I have Phoebe with me because she hates the camera and tries to hide when I use it. But thank you Jeff for helping out. Did you know?

Smokey & Tucker
I had to pick up a book I ordered at the mall today and I was meeting friends for a walk on the path in Westerville so I only walked around twice. Diane called when I was at the mall and invited me for dinner before we walked so I went to her house for dinner and a walk. Her husband Jack and their dog Smokey went with us. Smokey's real master Jack Jr. was home resting from a hard day at work. Smokey is 3 yr old Boston Terrier. And he loves to go for a walk. He likes to pick up a stick on the way back. (just on the way back) He loves little kids, ice cream and dogs that are smaller than him. Smokey is a little spoiled too one of the meals he likes best is roasted chicken. While I was at the mall I met Tucker a 9 month old Shih Tzu Maltese mix with his owners brothers Austin, Cody, & Harrison. Tucker was so cute with his monkey jaw. What a chick magnet!

Tempting!
Walking at the mall some days really are a test of wills. I've been walking at the mall since Feb and the top floor is where the food court is. I have to walk past the Cinnabon,Auntie Anne's Pretzels,Godiva,Haagen Dazs. I could go on and on. So far I haven't caved in and bought anything as tempting as it is. I have learned one sure way to overcome the urge is to leave all my money at home. So unless it's free I'm in good shape. Speaking about shape I met Tinkerbell a poodle and her owner Lisa who doesn't look like she in any shape to be carrying Tinkerbell around. Lisa is due in 2 weeks and she said Tinkerbell doesn't know she's a dog and will be very jealous when the baby gets here. Lisa was trying on hair pieces at the kiosk in the center of the mall. Tinkerbell was content and enjoying the ride.

Back Indoors
Back to the indoor mall today the temperature was back up again. I walked for an hour and twenty minutes today for some reason it seemed easy today.I really need to get started earlier on the weekends when the mall isn't so crowded. I'm thinking about joining the gym for the winter because I hate the cold almost as much as the heat. But I'm sure there are no dogs at the gym. Today I met Asia and her owner Reena. Asia is a 3 yr old pitbull. Reena was shopping for shoes but some shoppers were afraid of Asia. They asked her to leave the store. Reena said Asia just had surgery and was trying to get back on her feet. That's why she was walking at the mall. She said she needed to gain 10 lbs.I guess she didn't want her running around outside a lot. Figures I'm walking to lose weight and she has her dog trying to gain weight. I found Asia to be friendly and happy but I can understand how some people feel.

Wow 87 with a breeze!
The weather felt great today. I decided to walk at the outdoor mall today. A shopping area called Easton. It's pretty crowded all summer no matter how hot it gets. It has great stores like Apple, The Sharper Image, and so many others. I needed to go to Sharper Image so I made an afternoon of it and did my walking too! I wasn't sure I was going to meet any dogs today but just as I was walking to my car I ran into Oliver and his owner Linda they were getting into a tiny little sports car. Oliver is a 10 yr old Jackrussel and Yorkie mix. Oliver looked pretty happy to be getting in the car and Linda said they spoil him alot.

10 degrees Cooler
Unreal what 10 degrees difference makes but today was 10 degrees cooler and I'll take it. I walked at the mall this afternoon that's where I met Ginger. Ginger is a cute 4 month old Lhasa Apso who's owner Aviv works at the mall at the Roller Shoes Kiosk
Ginger loved all the attention she got from the kids in the mall. Good thinking on Aviv part too. Bring a cute puppy to work and all the kids and their parents come over to the Kiosk. Some most likely walk away with Roller shoes.

Meet Rusty
Hot doesn't come close to describing the weather today. I walked at the mall today and noticed that the children's area is overflowing with kids but yet the mall didn't seem to be very crowded. I'm sure it's because the heat has gotten to everyone.I took this picture of the play area to post and try to make my blog just a little more interesting. As apposed to completely boring. When I realized I see lots of interesting people every day at the mall so I decided to make it a daily task to introduce you to someone new every day. Today I met Rusty he's the golden retriever in the middle. Rusty was cooling off at the mall with his owner and some friends. They were purchasing some jewelry for Rusty's owner when I met them.Rusty was just happy to be walking in the air condition.

Under Construction
Looks like there's going to be lots of mall walking this month. Just walking to the car is enough to wear you out. I wonder how the mail carriers do it. I'm hoping to get back to walking twice a day again but until this heat wave is gone I'll be happy with once a day.The bonus part of going to the mall is they are tearing down the Kauffmans building on the end of the mall so I do get to see the progress every day.

Another muggy day
Today was another day for mall walking. High temperatures and high humidity make for unbearable outdoor walking. I walked a little longer but when the humidity is high you can even tell when walking indoors. But the new Apple store opened today so after my walk I stopped in to browse and tried to buy a mac book cover but their were so many people in the store I gave up and left.

New Shoes
Today I bought new shoes. I went to Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, and DSW. I went with an open mind and tried on everything Nike,Reeboks,New Balance,Asics, & Rockports. Airs, gels, running, & walking shoes. Blues, Greens, Reds, & Pink shoes. I tried on 7 1/2, 8, & 8 1/2. Some were $39,$49, $65, and even $85. They even had numbers like 353's,408's & 492's.I finally settled on a pair of Nike Walking shoes trimmed in blue for $49. Now if you know me I only buy white Sketchers,Keds or Avia's. (my daughter says I have no taste in shoes). I decided to be different today and here I was picking up my box of blue Nike and walking to the checkout when I pass a pair of Avia's on the end cap. I decided to try them on just to be sure I'm buying the right shoe. And I'm glad I did. They felt great! Better than all the other shoes. And they were on sale for $23 but I wanted to be different today. I wanted to be open minded. I wanted to prove that my daughter isn't always right when she says I buy the same thing all the time. As I was walking away with my Avia 330's I noticed they come in blue too! So I put my white ones down and picked up the blue ones and proudly went to the checkout. I broke my new shoes in by walking in the neighborhood tonight.

Mall Tempature 72
Today I went to the mall to walk. I had to avoid the heat. I think everyone else had the same thing in mind. The mall was packed with little kids playing on large food and animal figures. I figured the kids can't take the heat or the parents can't handle the kids without an air conditioned playground. Either way the mall was cooler. I met some friends and we walked for little over an hour then went to dinner.

Same old Walk
I really don't know how my brother Pat runs in the Arizona heat all summer. It's was after 10pm when I walked tonight and the temp is still in the 90's. The humidity is high and I have to drag the dog. There should only be a couple more weeks of this unbearable heat. I just hate to wish away any part of the summer. I walked my neighborhood again tonight. I have been back to doing Calorie King it really helps me to stay within my limits when I record what I eat.
