Tough to walk tonight the humidity is so bad it's not really hot outside but the humidity is bad. My dog didn't even want to go.
I walked late and in the neighborhood so nothing too exciting tonight. My daughter Amy is on a different schedule at school this eight weeks so she has not been walking with me. Hopefully we will get back on schedule soon.

Home Sweet Home!
It sure is good to be home. Two weeks is a long time to be gone. Especially from the conveniences of your home. Vacation was relaxing. I didn't get to walk as much as I would have liked to. We had to drive to places to walk. There were some beautiful places but they were about an hours drive. The first walk we went on was at Iroquois Point it was along the beach. The weather was great and the breeze coming off the water was wonderful. It was 4 miles round trip. We also walked at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. We walked from the lower falls to the upper falls. It was 5 miles long and I had a tough time doing the climbing but I did it. Phoebe my dog loved it. We let her off the leash and she could run back and forth.
We also walked along the road where we were staying but there was no shade during the day and it made for a hot walk but I usually got in 3 to 4 miles walking to the store or the end of the road.
I did gain a little weight about 4 lbs. Not enough walking and way too much eating. But I'm home now and it's time to buckle down and get serious again.

Friday the 13th
All said and done this Friday the 13th wasn't too bad for me. I did great on the walking part but messed up on the food part. I walked 81 mins today. The weather was great and I got my walking done early in the day with my loyal dog Phoebe. But then my husbands cousin came in from Cincinnati and I had a few too many cheese and crackers, a piece of peanut butter fudge and Chipotle for dinner. Not the greatest way to start off my vacation.

Great Ohio Weather
Today was another beautiful day. I wish the weather would stay like this all summer. I'm sure it will be like this in Michigan it usually is. I walked this afternoon with Phoebe. She had to go to the vets today so it was like a reward for her to walk this afternoon.I feel really bad when I don't go early enough.

Vacation around the corner
I am getting ready to go on vacation at the end of the week. We are going to Michigan for 2 weeks to a fishing camp my husbands family has gone to for 50 yrs. We don't do much fishing but it a great place to chill and relax. We have a boat my husband will go out fishing a couple of times but nothing too serious. He fished a lot more when my oldest son Bryan went with us. We do plan on walking quite a bit maybe even around Mackinaw Island. Bob ordered a book on hiking so we should find some decent hiking trails. There's no internet in camp and no iphone service so I will be lost for awhile. I will still try to write my blog and post when we go to town or when I return. I walked by myself tonight. I didn't leave early enough so Phoebe didn't go with me. She can hear those fireworks. By the time I get back from vacation it should quiet down I hope. I was able to walk pretty fast without her and the weather was nice and cool tonight.

Phoebe before dark
Sometimes getting my walking in takes real effort on my part. Today was very busy and it rained on and off all day. But after dinner I did walk for about a hour and a half. I tried to go early so my dog Phoebe would go. They're still shooting off fire works in the neighborhood and she can smell them the minute we step outside. But I went early enough tonight. When I go early we run into all the neighborhood dogs so it takes longer. She has to sniff each one of them. My pedometer quit working for some reason during my walk and I didn't realize it until half way through my walk so my stats are estimates tonight.

Good to be back home
Back to walking today. I got home from Cincinnati around noon today. After unpacking and some lunch I headed to the mall to walk. My daughter met me when she got out of school but I got a head start on her and walked the mall 6 times before she got there. We walked the mall 6 more times for a total of 12 times for me. Bob took Amy and I out to dinner. I stayed within my calories for the day so I felt great about that since I gained the weight I lost last week over the week-end.I ended up walking 2 hours today.

All good things come to an end.
Pat, Amy, and the kids left this morning. Pat had to get home and Amy and the kids were going to visit family in Iowa. The time goes by so fast. It's been a great week-end of family and fun. After everyone left my sister came over. We went to the mall and stopped at a few stores. She wanted to stop at Dick's Sporting goods to buy a pedometer. Maybe it's contagious. I told her about Calorie King too. Back to my parents house to eat. I've really been eating way too much. I need to get home and back in a routine. The only walking I've done was when we were shopping.Tomorrow I'm going back to Columbus and back to my routine.
But I had a great time!

Monahan Family Picnic
Today was the Monahan Summer Picnic. My aunts and uncles and their families get together twice a year. It's good to see everyone. Familys are getting bigger there were 2 new babies and a few new partners. The food was great. It's always a long day after we left the picnic we went back to my parents house. My sister came over and we sat around talking all evening. This was the last night my brothers family is here. It was great to spend time with my niece and nephew there growing up so fast. I'm sure this vacation is a little boring for 2 teenagers. But I 'm thankful for the time they spent here. Needless to say I didn't get my walking in but I will walk extra this week. My daughter Amy is home from vacation and she will start walking with me again on Monday

What Cincinnati's not flat?
I wanted to walk on the bike trails on Hunter Rd. this morning so I drove over with great intentions, But when I got there and realized Cincinnati was very hilly I only got a mile in before I gave in and went back to my mom's. I can do flat land for miles but those hills just make my asthma kick right in. With the humidity and 85 degree temp ( I hear my brother laughing) I just called it a morning.Bob's grandparents owned the land off Hunter Rd. and he grew up there it's really peaceful and there are quite a few people playing frisbee golf and walking the paths. I had a lot to do anyway. I needed to go to the store and back to my mother's to fix breakfast for my mom, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. Then I had brownies to bake and my mother-in-law to pick up. I wanted her to come over for dinner I don't get to see her very often. Amy M and Emily taught me how to play a new card game called peanuts. It was a form of solitaire that Emily had learned at church camp. We sat out in the yard for an hour or so before dinner. My nephew Scott stopped by and my sister Theresa and her daughter Michelle came for dinner. I t was a great night we finished up with Pat,Amy,Mom,Tyler,Emily, & myself playing peanuts. I walked on the treadmill for 15 mins and called it a night.

Arizona Company
Today I got up and decided to walk at the mall. You can feel the humidity in the house. I still needed to look for a backpack for vacation so I thought this would be a good day to do both. I walked for an hour before shopping then shopped and walked for 30 more mins. I can really tell when the humidity is high it's harder to walk inside or out. I had a few stops to make on the way home. My son Bryan called while I was out he needs his birth certificate and SS card for a job he interviewed for at the Coors Brewery. I sure hope he gets the job. Bob and I will do everything possible to get his identification for him. My brother and his family are arriving at my parents in Cincinnati tonight from Arizona. It's a 2 hour drive from here I was going there tomorrow but Bob found out he had to cover a Crew game Saturday night and couldn't go so I decided to go this evening. I got there late everyone was in bed. They all got up to talk to me for a few mins. My niece Emily copied some programs I have for my mom. She will finish the rest tomorrow. Everyone wanted to see my new iphone. The kids have really gotten big. My brother really looks good from all his running. My mother and I finished the night watching our DVD's

Happy Anniversary
Got up early today and since it was still cool and breezy outside I decided to walk right away hoping to avoid the heat. Phoebe and I started out for the path by the school we went a different path zig zagging around a bit. I found it harder to walk even though it was breezy. We walked for an hour and a half but it seemed like forever today when I got home and looked at the humidity 64% I could understand why. The temperature is about the same as it has been the last couple of days but the change in the humidity makes all the difference. We still got our walking in for the day. Today is our wedding anniversary. Were usually on vacation during this week. Last year we were in Hawaii. I wish I had been in this walking mode then. With all the places there to explore I missed out on a bunch. Were going to Michigan with friends of our on the 14th. They like to walk a lot too so hopefully we will rack up a great number of miles. I did go shopping looking for a backpack and to get a few things for vacation so I got a few steps in there too. We went to a great restaurant at Easton, McCormick & Schmick's it's a seafood restaurant. Bob had Walleye and I had Curried Scallops with rice and Asian Vegetables. It was very good and nice to go to a quiet restaurant for a change. Our waitress was a little dingy but she was nice.

Another Great Day
The weather here has been great the last couple of days. It makes walking so enjoyable. Diane called this morning and wanted to walk so Phoebe and I got in the car and drove over to her house for a walk on the bike path that goes through Westerville.
Jack went so it was Jack, Diane,Phoebe,Smoky and me. We walked for an hour and a half. We cut through the school yard to get to the path. That's where we let the dogs off the leashes and they can run. I have to be careful because coming back Phoebe runs through the fenced area thinking we brought the car. After a long walk she's in a hurry to get in the car. I took the evening off as far as walking I have a blister on my little toe probably from walking so far yesterday. I have this computer program that I have to input all my meals and liquids into. It says I have not eaten enough calories so I need to eat more or walk less I'm not quite sure which. I'm going to my parents this week-end for a family gathering so I'm sure I eat more than I should.

Record Day
When I got up today the weather was beautiful there was a great breeze so I decided to walk to Khols which took about 54 min it was a little under 3 miles. When I finished at Khols I stopped in at a few other stores then headed up State St and walked through downtown Westerville. I took the bike path and walked to Maxtown Rd and decided to walk the bike path a little more. I ended up running in to our friends Jack, Diane and Diane's sister Jane so I walked with them and ended up at their house then Jack took me home. The total walking for me this afternoon was over 10 miles. Bob, Robby and I went to MCL for dinner then Bob and I took the dogs out for a 20 min walk. So it has been a record day for me. I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight. I have been on the wait list at the library for the past couple of months for the Rosetta Stone cd on Japanese it finally came today so I'm excited to check it out maybe I will be talking Japanese soon. Well I had a record day today one that I won't break too soon.

Never too old to learn
I knew today would be a busy day. I signed up for a 2 hour class at the apple store for the new iphone. The class was free and I thought I could pick up a lot so I got up early cleaned the house, watered the plants and got started on a craft project I wanted to complete today. At 1:30 I headed off to the class. There were 2 other guys and the Apple tech we sat in a group for 2 hrs playing with our iphones and asking questions. I think I taught them as much as they taught me. Between 4 of us we pretty much covered everything. But I'm sure there will be lots more to learn. It really is amazing how much it does. I used the satellite feature and saw my house with Bob's car in the driveway. I learned how to rearrange some items on my iphone how to open more than one web page at a time and lots of other nifty little tricks. After I got done with my class I walked around Easton for about an 1 1/2 the weather was so great today. I got home and still wanted to walk. I tried to take Phoebe but didn't leave early enough about 20 min into my walk the fireworks started and she spooked out on me again, so after dropping her off at home I walked for another hour. I walked longer tonight because it was so nice and cool out.
