"If you've noticed I've been absent from the crafting world lately, you are correct. I will be back soon, but would like to share some sad news.

My father, Joseph Monahan, passed away suddenly last week in his home in Cincinnati. Luckily he did not suffer, but he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I rushed to Cincinnati when I heard the news and have been here with my mother ever since. This past week has been about family, and while it was much needed, I wish that the circumstances were different.

If you have called or emailed me about a crafting issue and I have not called you back, please know that I will get back to everyone as soon as possible. If you have called to express your condolences, I am grateful and will get back to you as soon as I am home and things are back to normal, which will probably be early next week.

Thank you for all the kind words, cards and flowers. It is nice to know at times like these that I have the support of many great friends. If I have learned anything from this it is that life is indeed too short and cherish those close to you, as you never know how much longer you have with them.

Wow! I never though I would get caught up. I've been in Washington D.C. with CTMH for the past week and met lots of wonderful CTMH consultants and have learned so much. And now I getting ready to leave for a Caribbean Cruise for a week so I'll be catching up when I get home.

Day 137 is "Hot & Cold" For this challenge split your card in half based on color groups hot,cold, warm & cool whatever they're called and there should be a distinct separation between the two. Anything else goes.

Day 136 is "Imagine This Chalkboard" With an imagine this challenge all you have to do is be inspired by the item listed....in this case a chalkboard.

After I stamped and colored my inchies I embossed with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. I cut my inchies with Cricut Cartridge George & Basic Shapes.

Catching Up Again Days 67-71

I've been on the road again. This time my travels took me back to the great state of Michigan,but this time I was in Novi at the Great Lakes Mega Meet Scrapbook Convention. I had the great opportunity to work with the CTMH team led by Michelle Nist. It was wonderful to meet all of the consultants I've been reading about & posting with on our Big Ten site. And I learned so much too! I ran into some great folks from Columbus and visited with the scrappers I had met in Gaylord. So if you ever get the chance to go, the convention is held every year on Mothers Day weekend. Being able to meet new friends, visit with old friends, see & buy new product is more fun than any scrapper could hope for in one weekend. Now back to life at home and the 365 Card Challenge:

I sure hope I have this Arch right. I know it's hard to see but when I use the Sakura Gelly Roll Pen it just brings my cards to life. If you haven't tried the Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen you should make that a must on your next shopping spree. I also used a new product on today's card, Pearl Pen by Viva Decor. It lets you put perfect pearls just where you need them. You can even make extra on wax paper to use on projects just as you would any flatbacked pearls. Day 64 at 365 Card Challenge is 3 F's Fringe-Fairy Tale -Favorite Color:

This was a lot of stamping which made the card lots of fun to put together.Who doesn't love the Wizard of Oz? The fringe part was a tad bit difficult but I came up with some green (my favorite color) fringe to put through my button.

Circle 3 Ways Day 61

Today's challenge at 365 Card Challenge is to use at least 3 different types of circles on your card. I stayed in the seaworld theme for this card.

I used Bazzil card stock and embossed with Cuttlebug folder Tiny Bubbles for one of my circles. For the second circle I used "Lifes a Beach" Cricut cartridge for the beach ball, helm, and seal. For the third circle I used a CTMH button. I added a CTMH Fringed Phrase stamp C1366. Edged the helm with chocolate ink. DID YOU KNOW watermeleons can cost up to $100 in Japan.

Day 60 All that Glitters

Today's challenge at 365 Card Challenge is to include at least three different colors of glitter. If you know me you know I love glitter so for me this was an easy challenge.

And what better way to tell someone your coming for a visit then to send them a sparkling card to announce your visit. For this card I used DCWV patterned paper for the water, WRMK patterned paper for my fish with clear glitter, and Little Yellow Bicycle for my seaweed. along with green glitter. I cut a piece of acetate in the shape of a fish bowl to place on top to make the card realistic. For the gravel I used micro beads with gold glitter. I used CTMH's TMC C1364 stamp for my annoucement and glossy accents for my water bubbles. DID YOU KNOW pearls melt in vinegar.

Well with being gone all weekend I had a lot of catching up to do. I have the cards for the last 5 days done so lets begin with day 54 Fancy Folds. Thae challenge was to do a Joyfold card here is my take on the challenge:

For this card I used Basic Grey paper, CTMH stamps and inks using the puddle pad technique. and a brad and photo turn from American Crafts and cardstock from Bazzil.

Day 55 is on Pins & Needles your project must incorporate pins for a decoration and needles for the purpose of stitching.For this card I used the Heritage Cartridge from Cricut, May Arts ribbon, prima flowers, Cuttlebug embossing folder Textile Textures, cardstock from SEI and a CTMH stamp from the Thank you set D1361, & a hat pin I had.Day 56 brings on another Super Sketchy Sunday:

For my card I used a Martha Stewart border punch, CTMH buttons, Bo Bunny patterned paper,May Arts ribbon and a CTMH stamp from the Fringed Phrases C1366 stamp set.Day 57 is Ad Inspire
I have two pics on my card the first one is open so you can see how I made my side foldover card and the second one is closed. For this card I used papers from DCWVNana's Nursery boy & girl paper packs, CTMH buttons, May Arts ribbon and Bazzil cardstock. Day 58 is Crazy 8's that means things in quanties of eight-using at least 3 different items on your card . For this card I used 8 different CTMH star stamps from Wishing Star D1333 and 8 different inks, finishing off with 8 different buttons.

Day 59 is Moving Parts and what moves better than pinwheels?

The paper is from Imaginisce, ribbon May Arts and the stamp is from CTMH's Paisley Praise D1414

On the Road

I've been out of town teaching in Gaylord, Michigan, a small Alpine village in northern part of the lower peninsula, and wow, what a wonderful group of women I got to work with. I taught two basic Cricut classes and a Design Studio class. Three days of food, fun and friends; I couldn't have asked for more.

Denise Cather from Ostego Club put on a great event with 80 crafters. Each attendee got 8 feet of scraping space, welcoming gifts and personal lighting. There were lots of enthusiastic, knowledgable vendors. Michelle Nist from Close to my Heart hosted a scrapbook contest and make and takes. The best part is they have invited me back for their event in October. I plan to teach a Copic Marker class, as well as all of my Cricut classes. If you are interested in joining us, send me an e-mail and I'll get the information right to you.

I had three good friends who joined me for this Scraptabulous weekend: Rosie, Jennifer and my cohort Jo. Because we arrived a day early, we were on our own for breakfast the first morning. We slept in after our long trip -- extended by food and bathroom stops and a visit to a big Brighton, Mich., scrapbooking store -- and we had lunch at a great little local restaurant. You can't beat the daily lunch specials at the Sugar Bowl.

After lunch, we headed for the main scrapbooking area to get set up. Staff from the Ostego Club was there all weekend to cater to us. Massages, manicures and pedicures were available for those who wanted them.We took a break before dinner to get a memorable pic for those who wanted to scrap their memories of the weekend. (Here's Mike getting everyone in place for the picture.) The accommodating staff of the Ostego Club provided curbside porter service for getting in and out of the scrapping area. Having someone there to help load and unload our many bags of supplies was the perfect touch for a Scraptabulous-filled weekend.

I've been so busy I forgot to post yesterday, but I did complete my card. But first todays card challenge is Save the date:
This was fun and different to make. I used my cricut to cut the tag with Plantin Schoolbooks and the oval from Alphalicious cartridge, the flower was cut from a Marvey Punch, the cupcake is from CTMH's Cupcake Sprinkles stamp set. For the save the date I used both CTMH's Notice the Details set and Classmate Alphabet set.

The challenge was Alpha sticker-Stamp-Red

For this card I used CTMH cardstock, Basic Grey Alpha stickers, and a Inky Antics Teacup Mousies stamp. I colored the stamp with Prisma color pencils using the color outside the lines technique. DID YOU KNOW not only the fur of a tiger is stiped but also its skin.

Today's challenge at 365 card challenge is completely different it is Digging Deep you need to find three things.

Something that is more than a year old.

Something that you were given but never used.

Something that you forgot you had.

The brow liquid applique is more than a year old, the Cloissone Pot stamp is something a friend gave me, and the rhinestone brads are something I forgot I had. Other than that I used a CTMH cattail stamp from the Ambiance C1349 set. DID YOU KNOW an ostrich egg can make approx. eleven and a half omelets.

I've been busy taking classes the last few days and had to catch up with the challenge. The challenge for day 31 is to take an image and ( digi, stamp, etc) and break it down into thirds- 1/3 no color, 1/3 patterened paper 1/3 hand colored ( markers, colored pencils, chalks, paint etc. It dosen't have to be in perfect thirds, just broken down into three parts.

Today's challenge is to incorporate the sentiment "Hang in There" on your card.

I really enjoyed this one as I got to use different techniques. The background paper was some cloud paper I had (not sure who made it). I used CTMH's stamp of the month for April with a masking technique for the flowers. I colored in the flowers with Copic markers & I used a technique with Copic Markers that I learned in my certification class yesterday for the grass. Wow did I learn a lot there! I cut the clothes & cloud from Everyday Paper Dolls and New Arrivals with my Cricut. And used good old fashion handwriting for my sentiment. Some Bazzil cardstock and twine to finish it off. DID YOU KNOW using a clothesline saves money and emits zero greenhouse gas emissions per load.

Today's challenge at 365 Card Challenge is Do it yourself glittered brads or pearls. Take a brad or pearl add a little glue and glitter and you have some glittery goodness!

This was my take on today's challenge. I cut my flower pot from Cricut's A Walk in my Garden the flowers from Make-the-cut. I used American Crafts large brads and some score pal tape. A little Doodle bug sugar coated glitter, Bo bunny dotted ribbon, Sakura stardust gelly pen, topped off with a stamped greeting from CTMH's Fringed phrases and presto a beautiful bouquet of flowers with lots of bling. DID YOU KNOW that spring last one month longer in the Southern Hemisphere.

Today's challenge at 365 card challenge is Terrific ten to use ten different patterned papers on one card. You can use more but you have to have at least ten. This was a fun challenge and the best part was getting to use up all those wonderful scraps. I used a mixture of K & Company, Basic Grey, DCWV, Imaginisce & some I'm not quite sure of. I also added some liquid applique, May arts ribbon. A CTMH stamp from Springtime and I cut my bunny from Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge. DID YOU KNOW if you do not wear at least one new article of clothing on Easter it is considered bad luck.

Day 23 Stencil it!

Today's challenge at 365 Card Challenge is Stencil it! All you have to do is use a stencil.

For today's challenge I used a stencil cut from Design Studio and I stenciled on top of my image with Pebbles Chalk. I used a stamp from CTMH's For Every Ocassion. Bazzil cardstock and some May Arts ribbon. DID YOU KNOW that Bamboo is the fastest living plant and can grow up to 35 inches in one day.

Today's challenge is to use this poster, or anything about the movie (or if you prefer, you can use the animated version) to inspire your card.

This was an extremely hard one for me. For this project I used Pebbles chalk for the green rolling hills and the blue sky. Imaginisce Twitterpated. I cut the mushrooms with the Paisley cartridge and Design Studio. Added some May arts ribbon. A CTMH stamp from Enjoy the Journey and used VersaMark ink and dark blue chalk for the greeting.DID YOU KNOW the movie took 5 years to complete, but was in development for 10 years before it entered active productions.

Today's challenge is "Let's make some noise" You need to make a card that makes noise a shaker card, add a bell or another item that makes noise. I choose a shaker card. I had this clear plastic heart from some Bo Bunny brads and had saved this heart for something just like this.

Day 17 365 Card Challenge

Today's challenge is a "twinchies" challenge. Your whole card can be a twinchie, or you can put one (or two or three) on your card. You'll need to decorate a 2 x 2 inch piece of cardstock or some other material to meet the challenge. I decided to stay with a St. Patrick's Day theme and use twinchies as the base of my card utilizing my scraps.

Today's challenge was a lot of fun. So many ideals came to mind. tortoise-hare,Democrat-Republican , angel-devil , heaven-hell , coke-pepsi well I could go on and on. I used salt-pepper & black & white.

For this card I used CTMH black & white daisy. Silver foil, Bazzil swiss dots, May arts ribbon, Texture textile embossing folder from Cuttlebug and some acetate. I printed my verse and inked it with CTMH black ink. DID YOU KNOW only 6% of the salt used in the U.S. is used in food; another 17% is used in de-iceing streets & highways in the winter months.

Today's challenge is ad inspired this is the ad

I made my own background paper using a mixture of perfect pearls,dimensional pearls and alcohol. I sprayed the mixture over some lace I had. I used Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses and weaved it for my basket. I stamped the eggs with CTMH Playful Petals & Springtime stamp set s with CTMH Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf & Petal Inks. The flowers are Prima flowers with Making Memories pearl brads in the center. Easter Wishes was stamped on a cut out from Faboulous Finds. The basket was cut from Doodlecharms. I finished it with a border punch from Martha Stewart.

Today's Challenge is Sunday's SketchI used Bazzil Metallic for my card base patterened paper is Debbie Mumm, Stamps by CTMH Springtime I colored my raindrops with a stardust gelly pen then added glossy accents some left over ribbon and brads. DID YOU KNOW tree crickets are called the poor man's thermometer because temperature directly affects their rate of activity. Count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 15 seconds, then add 37. The sum will be very close to the outside temperature.

Todays challenge Take an image and do just a bit of paper piercing in order to raise some portion of it off the page to give dimension.With this card I used the Bee Mine stamps from CTMH and Playful petals. I stamped the flowers,leaves and vine on my paper with White, and Clover Meadow ink. I used Chocolate ink for the centers of my flowers and cut them out and pop them up. The bees were stamped and cut out with the antenna being drawn on with a black pen. The bug jar was cut from Doodlecharms. I topped everything off with my Stardust Gelly pen from Sakura and some wonderful two toned ribbon from May Arts.I've really had a lot of fun with the Bee Mine Stamp from CTMH and you can get this stamp set free if your interested let me know.DID YOU KNOW the average life span of a worker bee is between 7 & 8 weeks but a queen bees life span is between 2 & 8 years.

Day 12 365 Card Challenge

Today's challenge is to include 20 or more circles from at least 2 different sources. I just taught a neat technique class last night and used this awesome Spots and Dots embossing folder. This is a double embossing technique on metal so it was perfect timing. I used two embossing folders Spots & Dots and Friends Forever, card stock from Close to My Heart, patterned paper from Reminisce, Red Copic Marker and a dragon fire brad. I ued silver on one side gold on the other crafting metal from Darice. DID YOU KNOW dragon flys have four wings, which allow them to fly forwards, backwards and hover. The top speed of a dragonfly is around 35 mph. A dragonflys life revolves around flying. They capture and eat their food while flying and they evan mate while flying.

For this card I used Cricut cartridges Walk in My Garden, Plantin Schoolbooks, Wild Card, & Doodle Charms. Bazzil cardstock, Basic Grey Origins and Bo Bunny Winterland Mist. Sakura Gelly Roll Pen, Color Box Chestnut Roan & Prima flowers. The stamp set I used is Be Mine from Close to My Heart. Today's 365 challenge is to make a card using ORANGE-PURPLE-BLUE So many things run throught my mind with these colors but I've been playing with a bunch of flower techinques lately that I thought I would try some with these color combos. The techinque I used can be done with any Cricut or punched circular shape. Accent Essientials has some great circular shapes for all kinds of flowers. The cardstock I used today was from American Krafts and some Bazzil Bling. The patterened paper is Bo Bunny, buttons & Hydrangea ink from CTMH, the stamp is the stamp of the month from CTMH and the final touch my trusty Sakura Stardust gelly pen. DID YOU KNOW in the USA the most common birthday is Oct 5 and the least comm is May 22.

Today's challenge was song inspired by Louis Armstrong's

The first thing I thought of when I heard this song was the "Beautiful Day Stamp" set from CTMH and this month when you sign up to be a consultant from CTMH you receive this in your kit along with 4 new stamp of the month sets for an extra $91.80 value. I used the Beautiful Day stamp set along with Kraft Cardstock from Bazzill and a mixture of Basic Grey's solid papers to create this card.
I also used Color Box Chestnut Roan, May Arts Ribbon, Pebbles Inc Chalk, & a VersaMark stamp Pad. I used the Cricut & Mini Monagram's for the scalloped circles. DID YOU KNOW Louis Armstrong was nicknamed Satchmo.

Today's challenge is to think "Outer Space" and how those words will inspire your card.

This was a big challenge for me. I really had to think outside the box.I'm not quite sure what was so hard but after I completed my card I was extremely happy with the outcome. I'm thinking about sending it to one of those kind people who offered a place to stay if we were coming through town. Careful it might just be you. For this card I used American Krafts Cardstock, You Rock patterned paper by CTMH, TLC stamp from CTMH, Martha Stewart crystle fine glitter, White Signo pen by Sakura, buttons by Creative Cafe, Black Zig 05 pen for stitching and higlighting. Googlie eyes & skittles by Darice. My card & Aliens were made by using Design Studio, Everyday Paper Dolls, From my Kitchen, & A Garden of Words. Day 7 is Super Sketchy Sunday.

I really had a great time designing this one. Iused the Veranda Paper Collection from Close to my heart. I think this is one of my favorite collections. I used DMC floss for the stitching. The bird stamp is from the Felicity's collection stamped with Juniper ink both from Close to my heart. The edging ink was Gold from Color Box a Bazzil pearl for an eye and the best for last my template was cut from Cricut Design Studio using the George & Basic Shapes Cartridge..

Day 6 in 365 Card Challenge

Today's challenge is to create a stamped image using more than one color of ink. This means that the ink must be applied to the stamp beforepressing it on the paper-as opposed to coloring in an image with markers. I'm Back

I know I've been gone a long time. My weight has gone up and now it's on it's way back down. I have been lost in the crafting world for the past 2 years and have a web site at http://www.createyourheartout.com/ but decided to try and keep up with my personal blog too I hope you will visit both and enjoy the journey. was browsing the crafting web today and came across a neat little site called http://365cards.blogspot.com/ What a great site and it has my creative juices revving up. I've been to a lot of challenge sites but none have intrigued me like this one. It started March 1st so I had some catching up to do. This is what I came up with for my first 4 cards. The first was a challenge using these colorsFor day 2 you needed to have at least one of each of the 3 following items: CIRCLE-SILVER-PEARL I used the Cricut Wildcard cartridge to cut the card base and the rose from the icons added some pearls and black and silver ribbon.

For day 3 the challenge is to create String Art on your card. Wow at 4am trying to do 4 cards was a great challenge alone but "string art" that was a real challenge. I did complete the challenge with the help of a friend who had given me a spirelli scalloped circle so I was able to incorporate that into my card that I cut with Design Studio and the Mini Monograms cartridge.And finally day 4 was a white space challenge, you follow the sketch below, keeping all secorations in the blacked out areas:I used some Bazzill brown cardstock and my new border punch from E.K. Success,added a rubber butterfly from k.i. memories and dotted in some butterfly dust with my uni-ball signo pen. Well now after some much needed rest I will move onto day 5. Going Backwards

I've been so busy the last few days it's hard to find time to sit down at the computer. My oldest son is visiting from Golden Colorado. We went to dinner Friday night with friends of ours, our daughter, her boyfriend, our son, & his friends. We went to the Columbus Brewing Company. It was great. (more food during the week of Thanksgiving) I had fish but I'm sure the sauce was full of calories. I know the banana cream pie was loaded but it was the best I've ever tasted. I have less than a week to go for my bet with my brother. It's going to be close. I'm teaching a class on gift tags tomorrow at work. This will be my first real class I teach by myself. When I left work tonight there were 10 signed up for the class. This is what my class materials look like before we make the tags. I found out today I do get paid extra for teaching classes so that's even better. Did you know for every Christmas tree harvested, 2 to 3 seedlings are planted in its place.

Thanksgiving 2007

Today is Thanksgiving day and my 52nd birthday. I had a wonderful day celebrating with family at my parents home in Cincinnati, Ohio. My parents, mother-in-law, brother's family,sister's family, and my husband and children were all present. My youngest brother and his family are in Arizona but with us in thought. It's nice having all three of my children home for Thanksgiving. My son Bryan is visiting from Golden, Colorado. The food was wonderful but I was good. I ate sensible but did enjoy dessert. I was able to get in 1.33 miles for the day but no time to walk any real distance. Did you know 44 years ago today John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas.

I've been busy with job interviews the last two days. I interviewed for a managers position at Cord Camera's Scrapbooking Department. The pay is decent with commission so there is opportunity to excel. The benefits are great. The hours are great. I'm nervous waiting for the outcome since this is a job made for me. I guess what ever happens is meant to be. I do believe things happen for a reason even though we don't always understand it right away. They said they would be making a decision with in a week. In the mean time I'm still trying to get my money from the tax department. The women I called on Monday handed it over to another gentleman and he is working on it. But he did find $54 that belongs to my husbands grandfather who died in 1963. My oldest son Bryan is home for Thanksgiving he lives in Colorado and he arrived this morning. I saw him for about an hour before he went to bed at 9 am and again when I made him an omelet before he went out with his buddies. The weather has been great for walking. I wish it didn't get dark so early but at least I'm not freezing too!I still have 2.6 lbs to go before Dec 1st the only problem is Thanksgiving day is tucked in there too! So I will have to walk extra this next week to hit 140. Did you know during the Christmas buying season, Visa cards alone are used an average of 5,340 times every minute in the United States.
